A triumphant series born in Lucasfilm studios, Star Wars, has grossed over $4 billion dollars worldwide, according to The Numbers.

Recently, the 73 million viewed teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has rallied fans for the lingering saga. Movieclips Trailers on Youtube has two trailers accumulating 95 million views.

This film will be the seventh episode of the series and will be released on December 18th, 2015. Tickets in the US have sold at dramatic rates and theaters are expected to be packed with fans.

For the first teaser, a dark and menacing voice overlaps the scenes of pieces of the film. The voice said, “There has been an awakening. Have you felt it?…The Dark Side.” During the chill seeking narration, there is an introduction to the new improved lightsaber and BB-8 droid. The droid is a new version of the original R2D2.

The trailer begins with the son of Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, narrating the first 56 seconds. Skywalker said, “My father has it, I have it, My sister has it” which made a chair-gripping repeat of having the force.

The teasers provided an insight to the return of old actors such as Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker, as well as the music composer, John Williams.

However, the seventh episode to the saga will not be produced by Lucasfilms, the original producers. The continuation will be handed over to Walt Disney Studios.

From the beginning, Disney tried to continue the franchise’s famous outlook. Producing several mini-series: Star Wars the Clone Wars, Lego Star Wars: Yoda Chronicles, and Star Wars Rebels.

The notion of the Disney takeover strikes some fans as being a bad idea. But, viewpoints vary from fan to fan and the expectations for the childhood film have a positive or negative outlook.

The real judgment can begin when the film itself comes out and the critics have had their fill. Until then, “may the force be with you.”
