6 Things to do for Halloween

Don’t know what to do on Halloween? Well here’s a list of fun Halloween activities for you and your friends.

Halloween Party:

Feel like you are too old to go trick or treating? Well attend a Halloween party! You will still be able to dress up.

Most parties, if not your own, will most likely hold a costume contest. If you do not want to go far away from your neighborhood, you can search for a party near you.

If you can not find any, then here is a party that you can probably attend and it won’t be too far away. In fact, according to conejovalleyguide.com, the Community Center park in Camarillo is hosting a party on the 31st of October.

Hand Out Candy:

Handing out candy is more than just staying at home watching movies while you wait for people to knock on your door. Being the designated candy distributor means that you need to know what types of candy kids will enjoy and obviously candy that you also enjoy.

If you do not know some of the most bought candies for Halloween, then here are different candies that you can purchase: there’s skittles, which many kids enjoy that because “they’re really good and there’s different flavors” as stated by OHS junior, Elizabeth Lopez.

Also the classic chocolate candies such as M&M’s, Snickers, Hershey’s bars, Kit Kats, Milkyways, 3 Musketeers, Twix, Butterfingers, Whoppers, and Reese’s which you can also add on to different deserts as stated in thedailymeal.com. You can also go for the sweet candies like smarties, airheads, sour patch kids, starburst, and the popular one, jolly ranchers.

Trick-or-Treat:

As years pass by, there are less and less neighborhoods with good trick or treating houses, but do not let that ruin your Halloween night.

Ventura Harbor Village is hosting a trick or treating event from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Also on that day, there will be some chances to trick or treat, attend a haunted trail, and join a costume contest all in one event in Thousand Oaks, with an entry fee of  $5 per person.

If you want to stay around some areas that you might know, and want to trick or treat the night of Halloween, then drive on over to the Pacific View Mall in Ventura, the event starts at 4:00 pm and ends at 6:00 pm, according to conejovalleyguide.com.

Attend a Haunted House or Corn Maze:

If you do not want to go out and spend money on a costume that will only be used for one night, then consider going to a haunted house, haunted trail, a haunted hayride, or a corn maze. Although they may be far away from other local events, they are a great activity to get the chance to try something new.

A hayride near Ventura County is the Boccali Ranch pumpkin patch in Ojai, its hours of operation are from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on the days of either the 28th or 29th of October with its admission fee of only being $10 per person, according to boccalis.com/hauntedhayride.

One haunted house, also in Ventura County, is Reign of Terror haunted house located in Moorpark. Its hours of operation are the 28th and 30th of October from the hours of 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm and the 29th and 31st of October from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm with the admission fee of being $19 per each person, according to rothauntedhouse.com.

Have a Scary Movie Marathon with Friends:

Movie marathons are fun when you have nothing else to do and just want to be by yourself. Make this Halloween more fun and invite friends for a Halloween movie marathon.

You can start playing all of the classic horror movies like The Exorcist, Jaws, or a Freddy Krueger movie. If you are not that into real horror movies, then consider watching Disney classic horror movies like Hocus Pocus, The Haunted Mansion, or Twitches.

Stay at Home and Eat All the Candy that you Purchased for the Trick-or-Treaters:

There are some days that we do not want to do anything because of the fact that Halloween is on a school night and you might be busy finishing up homework. There is no shame in admitting that. That does not mean that you need to stay at home and feel sorry for yourself. You can use the list listed on the pass out candy list to get yourself some candy, or you can simply get some from your smaller sibling’s candy bag. After all, you probably did help them get their costume ready.
