A Real Life Superhero

Celebrating the Life of Stan Lee

Heroes are remembered, but legends will never die. Nearly every Marvel superhero we can think of was created by a man named Stan Lee, a legend who passed away at the age of 95 on November 12, 2018. Not only has Lee created many of our favorite superheroes, like Captain America, The Hulk, and Spiderman, but he has spread joy and excitement to a wide audience of people. Stan Lee was an imaginative man who brought to life amazing characters and succeeded in making a positive impact in the lives of thousands of fans. As Lee said, “I guess one person can make a difference.”

Edward Park (OHS Senior): “I remember when I was 15 – a sophomore – and I thought, “Hey I’m the same age as Spiderman; and Stan Lee, I’m not devastated [by his death], but it was crazy because I really thought he was immortal.”

Natalie Gil (OHS Junior): “It’s a pretty weird feeling to know that he’s gone because he’s such a big part of the entertainment industry, and since whichever movie he created, he would have a cameo in it. At the moment I’m really into Thor because of Ragnarok, it has to be one of the best.”

Richard Lopez (Ventura County Resident): “Maaaan, Stan Lee was my inspiration! Since I was a little kid I loved the X-Men movies and comics. His death was pretty upsetting but at least he left us with amazing childhood memories.”

Alan Sanchez (OHS Sophomore): “My favorite is Iron-Man because me and my dad would go watch all of the Iron-Man movies together. And I think the Marvel movies won’t be the same anymore … because they don’t have Stan Lee’s story writing.”

Danielle Deuter (OHS Junior): “I feel like they’re going to be missing something, like a part of the movies and it’s kind of bad. My favorite superhero is Wonder Woman because she’s bad a**.”

Ximena Fernandez (OHS Junior): “I thought he was great. He brought a lot of joy to a lot of people. I really loved the characters that he created, so I’m very grateful for everything he did. My favorite character is Captain America.”
