Jeff Sessions is out as Attorney General

Attorney General Jeff Sessions was fired by President Donald Trump on November 7, 2018. After more than a year in the Trump administration, Sessions resigned at the request of the President. Sessions’ decision to recuse himself from the ongoing probe into whether or not Russian officials colluded with the Trump campaign in 2016 presidential election.

Matthew Whitaker will replace Sessions as the attorney general. Whitaker was Sessions’ chief of staff and a onetime Senate candidate in Iowa. Democrats have immediately called on him to recuse himself due to him being openly critical of Mueller and the investigation.
