2019 Grammys

It’s one of the biggest events in the music industry – the 61st annual Grammy Awards took place last Sunday, and it was hosted by Alicia Keys. Keys’ performance was the highlight of the show. OHS senior Joseph R. Lopez said, “She is a goddess, her performance was breathtaking. Words cannot explain the amount of talent she has.” A Grammy is awarded by The Recording Academy’s voting membership to honor excellence in the recording arts and sciences. It is truly a peer honor, awarded to artists and technical professionals for artistic and technical achievement.

There were performances by Dolly Parton who performed “Here You Come Again,” Brandi Carlie who performed “The Joke,” Camila Cabello who performed “Havana,” and Travis Scott who performed “No Bystanders.”  These are only a few of the many artists who performed. Some who stood out for the incredible duo performances were Dua Lipa with St.Vincent, Shawn Mendes with Miley Cyrus, and Post Malone with Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Although all eyes were on the winners, fashion definitely played an important role to the awards show, too. High end brands such as Valentino, Jimmy Choo shoes to Bulgari jewelry is often seen on the red carpet worn by all celebrities. Everyone has unique outfits, all thanks to the wardrobe fashionistas and designers. Artists typically hire them to help create unforgettable appearances. For example, Keys arrived in a red dress by Armani Privé, and Lady Gaga arrived in a sparkly silver dress by Celine.

All winners will be shown in the following picture.
