Earning my doctorate is deeply personal, but it’s also about something bigger than me. It’s about student voice. I chose to focus my research on how listening to students, especially those often labeled “at-promise,” can transform schools and empower lives. This degree represents my belief that when we truly hear our students, we create spaces where they can thrive. As a lifelong learner and proud Yellow Jacket, I hope my journey shows that education is both a privilege and a responsibility—to grow ourselves, and to uplift others. I’m incredibly proud to bring this perspective to OHS, where student voice will always be at the heart of what we do. -Dr. Ted Lawrence
