A former OUHSD student from Rio Mesa works for NPR and wanted to interview an African American Studies teacher. We connected them to Dan Wade. Another aspect of this is that Dr. LaGarrett King was also interviewed in this story. Dr. King is a professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo and is someone that Dan was honored to hear speak at a PD that LACOE presented a couple of years ago. Our Ethnic Studies grant sent Dan to Dr. King’s conference later that school year. His work inspired development of the African American Studies course.
